Why "Answers on a Postcard"?

Jo Sidebottom I wanted the experience of doing a regular blog, but unlike some of my pals I don't have a life or job filled with humorous and interesting anecdotes. The thought of coming up with entertaining stories regularly was quite daunting. "Answers on a Postcard" was born when I had the idea of asking myself a handful of questions each week, some serious and some more frivolous, and trying to keep the responses pithy and concise. Please feel free to leave any comments about my blog on my Guestbook page.

Best day this week
Saturday, I think.  It was fairly leisurely apart from my presentation skills client in the afternoon, and after an early dinner at a local upmarket Indian restaurant (with a money off voucher which made it very good value indeed!) we just had a relaxing evening.

Best work activity of the week
Good meeting on Friday afternoon, of a group that should have started months ago but is just getting off the ground.  Interesting hearing updates from the various attendees, and it is go...

Best day this week
Sunday was the best day.  We were up early to go back over to Bedford for the Mensa Board meeting, which started at 9am.  It was nice to be there as an observer and not responsible for organising anything.  The meeting finished promptly at lunchtime so we headed home and went for lunch at our local Beefeater – somewhere we haven’t been for years.  We were very pleasantly surprised.  Then had a lazy afternoon and evening.

Best decision of the week

One of my trusts was ask...

Best day this week
I think Sunday was the best day this week.  It’s been a busy week work-wise, and then I had a lot of personal work to do over the weekend.  I spent much of Saturday on a detailed task that was worthwhile but quite laborious, so that by the end of the day I had achieved something but it didn’t really feel like it.  Sunday was much more pleasant.  We started with a new breakfast meeting at Café Rouge where the food was disappointing but the company was excellent.  Back ho...

Best day this week
Saturday was good – I had lots to do, all swimming round in my mind until I made a list (I like lists!).  I got a fair few of them done, and made a start on several others, which left me with a feeling of achievement by early evening.  So I treated myself to a couple of hours of TV with a nice glass of Isle of Wight cider.

Best work meeting of the week
There was only one, but it was quite productive.  I had to feed back on the status of our project to a User Group in London,...

Best day this week
I think Thursday 30th was the most enjoyable.  We arrived on the Isle of Wight on Wednesday evening, to thick fog, and just went straight to our hotel.  On Thursday it looked brighter and I was really keen to visit Osborne House, which I just about remember from my last visit in 1963.  Many attractions on the island are closed over winter, but I knew Osborne was open so it was a must.  Unfortunately parts of it were closed (including the Swiss Cottage and the upper floors), ...
